Today we dive into the Introductory essay on keywords and the first example of “Identity.” We assess the forms and contents of each of these essays, establishing the ways that the authors develop an archive, cite evidence, and make a case for their particular viewpoint. We focus on the both the objectivity as well as the fluidity of these terms, how they highlight fault lines in culture, and what they might mean for both our individual and our collective experience of today.

We also make plans for our first Story Circle session next week.

      For Monday (9.22):

• Type up your first autoethnography story based on the prompt distributed in class.
• Bring a hard copy to class to share in the story circles session.
